The purposes of this research were to evaluate service model development program fo family ward by applying CIPP Model that divided in 4 items: context input, process and product. The samples of this study were the customer of family ward and team of staff, consisted of 58 mental retarded children the aged between 3-10, 58 parents of mental retarded children, 32 mutidisciplinary staffs team. The research instruments were indepth-intervew, assessment form and questionaire. Data were collected from November 2002-January 2004. The results of this research were: context showed that the objectives of family program were related to mission of Rajanukul institute, objectives and product of Mental Health Department, objectives and stratefic of Ministry of Public Health, respectively. Input showed that all of samples accepted to staffs, materials, building were adequate and appropriate. Process showed that all of samples accepted to this program that emphasized on multidisciplinary team work to solve problems and needs of mental retarded children and their family, to give knowledge about how to care the mental retarded children to family for continue caring at home and community. Product showed that the mental retarde children had the progression of child development in every areas. The everage score of knowledge and practice for taking care the mental retarded children, attitude toward care burden of parents after enrolled this program were significantly highter than before enrolled, at the .05 level.
