รายละเอียด / Details:

The purposes of this research were to study selected factors and students physical and mental status, according to their perceptions, and to search for the variables, in relation to students and parents, that would be able to predict their health status. The population was the Thammasat school students ranging from the first grade to the sixth grade. One hundred and eighty subjects were selected by multi-stage random sampling; stratified random sampling, quota sampling, and simple random sampling respectively. The instrument was a physical health status questionnaire and the standardized health opinion survey. Data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, t-test, f-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple linear regression. The findings demonstrated that the physical and mental health status of the Thammasat elementary school students were good. There was no significant difference between mean scores of the physical health status of students in accordance with the studied variables. However, there was a statistically significant difference at p‹.05 level between mean scores of the mental health status of students in terms of father’s occupation. The students, whose fathers worked in businesses, had the highest mean score of stress level, and it was higher than mean scores of stress levels of other student groups. There was a positive correlation statistically significant at p<.01 level between the physical health status and the mental health status of students. Out of the hypothesized predicting variables, no variables predicted a significant variance in the physical health status of students. However, the father’s occupation was the distinctive variable significantly predicted the mental health status of students. Further research, more large-scaled and randomized study, is recommended to determine the condition under which father’s occupation variable affects the mental health status of students.
