The objective of this research is to study the economic and psycho-social impact on the family and community fo Thai labours, most of which were from north-eastern Thailand, after working abroad. The study was done in two villages, one was in Khon Kaen province and the other was in Udornthani province. More than 50% of male workers in both villages used to go to work abroad and most of them 71.6% were back already. It was found out that 90% of the workers were satisfied with going to work abroad and 85.6% of them said that their economic status had been better since then. Anyhow 91% of them did not change their occupation, most of whom were farmers. 49.6% of each worker's expenditure was used for building a new house, 31.9% for investment in their occupation and the rest was for such things to make life more comfortable as television set, stereo set, motorcycle, refrigerator, etc. the average amount of money saved by ech worker was 58,740 baht. Sixty-five percent of the workers wanted to go back to work abroad again. 10.8% of workers' wifes had sex with other man but more than half of the husbands didn't know the truth. However 6 couples divorced after that. Some of the workers' son who were teenagers became drug addicts or substance abusers. Most of them started using substance while their fathers were working abroad. Gambling was found more frequently. Co-operation among workers in volunteer work for their community was hardly found but people seemed to have more interest in political affair. They also has more confidence in social expression.
