The study was designed to compare the defense mechanisms self esteem of 50 amphetamine abuse juveniles arrested for the first time to 50 normal juveniles group by using the Defense style questionnaire 40 DSQ-40 and the five-scale test of self-esteem for children FSC. The result of the study indicated that the study group had non-significantly lower utilization of the mature defense mechanism than the control group, but anticipation defense mechanism was significantly lower than the control. The study group had higher tendency to utilize neurotic defense mechanism with significantly higher employ of immature defense mechanisms. Finally, the study group had significantly lower on both self-esteem and all the subscale than the control group. Logical assertive plan that was aimed at increasing the proper defense mechanisms utilization and self-esteem among the youth should be supported by a proper agency as one alternative in reducing the problems associate with amphetamine abuse juveniles.
