Most of psychiatric illness are chronic conditons, so there are several emotion problems caregivers. Emotional problems and coping strategies of caregivers are related to patien’s sumptoms. This study aimed to describe emotional problems and coping strategies of psychiatric patients caregivers. The participants in this study were 16 primary caregivers selected purposivly who offen brought patients to the psychiatric ward at Songklanagarind Hospital. Data were collected by in-depth individual interviews, focus groups using audio tape recorded, observations, and home visits. The data were analyzed by content analysis. The findings of this study revealed that caregivers had six emotional problems including: 1) concerning and sympathy 2) stress and anger 3) anxiety and worrying 4) desparation and grief 5) guilt feeling and 6) social stigma. There were six coping strategies: relaxation practice, Cognitive improvement, practice on sacred belief, seeking support, compromising and keeping problem in side. The results is useful in provision services for basic information for caregivers.
