This research was aimed to compare results of treatment in amphetamine psychotic patients between psychosocial model and conventional model. Subjects were male patients who had been diagnosed of amphetamine psychosis (F15.5) and discharged from Srithunya Hospital from 1st February to 31st March 2003. There were 30 cases received psychosocial model and 17 cases received conventional model. Results showed that the dosage of antipsychotic drug during discharge was statistical significant different. For 6 month follow up, patients received conventional model relapsed and readmitted higher than those in psychosocial model at 4.4 and 5.8 times. According to NNT analysis, 3 cases and 4 cases received psychosocial model could prevent relapse rate and readmission over 1 case in conventional model. It found that quality of life of patients received psychosocial model was higher than those in conventional model at 7.3 times. The relative’s satisfaction was statisitcal significant different between 2 groups.
