The objective of this studey was to study the drug related problems (DRPs) which occurred in smoking cessation clinic at thanyarak Institute on drug abuse. This concurred study was conducted from October 1,2001 to September 30,2002. Four hundred and three problems were found with the average of 1.58+- 7.69 problems per patient. The detected DRPs were drug interactions discontinuation of the second clinic visit adverse drug reaction which were 53.35 percent, 35.48 percent, 11.17 percent respectively. The most frequent drug interactions were between bupropion and melitracen, flupentixol and amitriptyline. The incidence of drug interaction between bupropion with melitracen and flupentioxol were equal. Most of adverse drug reactions effected on gastro-intestional system such as dry mouth and throat constipation and nausea were found 71.12 percent, 8.89 percent and 6.67 percent respectively. Thus the pharmacist's roles are to prevent and resolve DRPs in order to provide the effectiveness and safety of drug use.
