The objective of this study was to identify the prevalence of important mental disorders in Thailand classified by age, sex, and geographical distribuion, It was a two steps cross sectional community survey. The first step was done by trained team. It was a study in the community basis by using AUDIT screening test of WHO. The second step was done by using Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview M.I.N.I. There were 11,7000 samples, male and female, age 15-59 years old. The samples was selected by using stratified three-stage cluster sampling except the samples in Bangkok selected by stratified two-stage cluster sampling. The prevalence rate (%) of mental disorder from alcohol use disorder was 28.5%, 46.08% male, 9.96% female. Major depressive disorder was 3.2%, 2.47% male, 3.98% female. Generalized anxiety disorder was 1.85%, 1.37% male, 2.35% female. Psychotic disorders 1.76%, 1.75% male, 1.77% female. Dysthymia disorder 1.18%, 0.77% male, 1.61% female. Agoraphobia was 0.89%, 0.66%, male, 1.13% female. Panic disorder was 0.75%, 0.47%male, 1.05% female. Mania was 0.65%, 0.56male, 0.74% female. The prevalence of mental disorder form alcohol use disorder especially in male and depression were the highest problems.
