รายละเอียด / Details:

The WHO mental health global action program (mh GAP) is built on four core strategies, one of which is to enhance research capacity. Mental health research overall is important for mental health workers, serving to generate more advocacy and information for better decision making for administrators. Research capacity in each country should be strengthened and collaboration between countries should be encouraged. In Thailand, presently there are many collaborative projects with international institutions. One key example is the collaboration between the Department of psychiatry, Prince of Songkla university and the center for international mental health (CIMH) university of melbourne. Dr. Pichet Udomaratn was funded by CIMH for training in the international mental health leadership (iMHLP) Program during which he conducted 2 research projects. The project “Attitudes towards psychiatry in medical students who learned in a curriculum” was supervised by the faculty staff of CIMH, while the project “Psychotropic prescribing in mental health clinics” was a co-joint research with the Department of psychiatry, University of Melbourne. This collaboration not only strengthens the relationship between the institutions, but also give new insight into cross-cultural differences in clinical practice and training in both countries.
