The purpose of this research was to study the role of nurses and nurse-aids on oral health promotion and prevention in oral health s. The samples were 295 nurses and nurse-aids who took care of psychiatric in-patients at Somdet Chaopraya hospital. The research instrument was questionnaire developed by the researcher and approved for the content of validity and reliability by experts in research methodlogy and psychiatric nursing. The results revealed that the majority of the sample 70.6% were females and at average age 36.8 years old 44.7% of the samples were nurses, about one-third had received bachelor degree and had been taking care of patients about 0-5 years. The oral health promotion and prevention activities that the samples always done were suggestion the patients to brush their teeth, providing tooth-brushes and tooth-paste for patients and explanation the disadvantage of ignoring tooth brushing. On the other hand the activities that the samples had rarely done or never done were setting special program for oral health promotion activity, setting group for oral health education or demonstrating the effective tooth brushing techniques. About 53.5% of the samples had moderate role on oral health promotion and prevention in patients. It was also found thaat nurse had significantly more role than nurse-aids, but there was no signigicantly difference between the sex and age of the samples.
