This special article deals with the history and evolution of psychiatric education in medical schools ; and the administrative process in the recent official establishment of the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine and Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, which is the first, and at the time-being, the only independently organized psychiatric department in a medical schools ever establushed in Thailand.
