To translate the psychological screening inventory (PSI) for use in screening for mental health problem in Thai people of from an area of satarannasuk 2. Discrimination, internal consistency reliability and content validity of (PSI) were examined. This inventory consists of five scales : Alienation scale (AI) Social Noncomformity scale (Sn), Discomfort scale (Di) Expression scale (Ex) and Defensiveness scale (De). The subjects for this study were 400 patients who were being treated at Chainet Mental Health Center and 400 normal subjects in the area sataranasuk 2. All subjects filled out the PSI. The results reveal that PSI has content validity and an internal consistency reliability range from 0.26 to 0.74. The patient group had significantly elevated mean scores on AI and Di scales when compared with the normal group. There were no significant differences between mean scores of in patients and normal subjects on Sn, ex, and De. The results suggest that the PSI should be fairly useful as a screen for mental health problems in Thai people in the studies area of Sataranasuk 2.
