ชื่อเรื่อง/Title: Factors Influencing on Ya - Ba – Colorimetric Test it

รายละเอียด / Details:

This study was conducted form July to December 2003 at the HRH Princess Sirindhon Medical Center in order to evaluate if the Thai government made coloriemtric test kit for detecting Ya-Ba in urine was specific to both forms of Ya-Ba, that is, methamphetamine and amphetamine and urine with color interferences. By adding known druga in certain amounts into drug free urine and determining with the test kit, it was found that test kit was more sensitive to methamphetamine than to amphetamine. Furthermore, the results showed that the test kit was also sensitive to methylenedioxyethylmethamphetamine-MDMA, methylene dioxyethylamphetaminen-MDEA, ethylamphetamine, and fenfluramine, which all are secondary amine compounds similar to methamphetamine. By replacing sodium borate with sodium hydroxide, which is a strong base, the results showed that the sensitivity of the test kit to amphetamine and methylene dioxyamphetamine MDA, increased. Under this circumstance, it might be concluded that sodium borate may not be able to extract the primary amine compounds like amphetamine from the urine. The color of urine sample could interfer with the test results, since the urine color itself adds to the background. In this study, colors found in the urine sample must be comsidered as water soluble and miscible forms. The food abbitive colors were water-soluber and could be dissolved only in urine or aqueous layer, so they were easily separated from the solution. Whereas miscible color can dissolved in both urine and dichlormethane layers and;therefore, could inevitably interfere with the test results.

Keywords: colorimetric test kit, Ya-Ba, methampetamine, substance dependence, drug use, addict, amine compound, urine color.
