รายละเอียด / Details:

The purpose of this review literature was to investigate the health-related theories and models related to access to health care of children. Based on the 1993 National Health Survey NHIS, 4.2 million U.S. children lacked a regular source of health care, and 7.3 million children had at least one unmet health need. In addition, low-income children in Colorado suffered from oral diseases because of the lack of access to oral health care services, and adolescents in Colorado experienced inadequate mental health insurance coverage and had difficulty paying for needed services. The effective theories and models included the Health Behavior Model, which was utilized for understanding economic barriers and their impact on children's access to health care. The Health Belief Model helped health professionals to perceive the seriousness of mothers about health care for their children. The Interaction Model of Client Health Behavior explained the attitude of mothers to health care providers. The Conflict Theory of Personal Decision-Making described the decision-making process of mothers regarding health care for their children. In addition, the Empowerment Theory showed an intervention program that helped parents to gain knowledge and experience that reduced barriers for children accessing mental health care. These studies found the economic structural and socio-cultural barriers that limited access to health care for children. Health professionals can use this information to reduce barriers for their clients.
