รายละเอียด / Details:

Sawanpracharak Hospital has undergone a period of quality improvement programs. Total Quality management (TQM) and continuous quality Improvement (CQI) has been implemented since 1998. It was going to be evaluated based on indicators and six factors: awareness and co-operation of staff; commitment of the executive officers; acquired knowledge and skill; use of supportive resources; strong motivation and effective information systems. The objectives of this project were to evaluate the progressive levels and related factors of the TQM/CQI. The 58 executives and 352 staffs were included. The progressive levels were classified into 4 levels; fair or poor, moderate, good and excellent. The related factors were presented in frequency and percentage. Chi-square test was employed in order to confirm the association of the related factors with the characteristic data and the level of progression. It was found that the excellent level of progression of TQM was 48.6 percent due to general staff 86.9% participated in the programs and all of the executives had been involved with the TQM teams. Most of the hospital staff 19.2% received much information about the flow of quality improvement programs from multiple channels of communication but only 35.1 percent have understanding about its process. This is because the department which is responsible for the development of staff knowledge is lacking in a well-defined infrastructure and working systems. This study reveals that the progressive level is related to the six factors, therefore executives of the hospital should focus on these factors in the departments that showed moderate and poor progressive levels.
