Many infants and toddlers attend child day care centers while their parents are making a living. Therefore health promotion for these children should be done consistently in their homes and child day care centers. This participatory action research study was aimed to establish and develop a health promotion model in the small child study center, faculty of nursing, Chiang Mai University. Data were collected be using a weighting instrument, a height measurement tool, the Developmental Screening Inventory DSI tool, a graph of reference of standard weight and height, a growth and development recording form, a health status recording form, parent's needs for health promotion services and services satisfaction questionnaire, and staffs child health promotion knowledge and satisfaction with services questionnaire. These instruments were developed by the research team. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, and grouping of the answers. This finding revealed that fifty eight children attended the small child study center while the health promotion program was implemented. They were 2-36 months old. Most of them were the first child of the family and their parents worked outside their. All parents needed health promotion services. Activities in the health promotion program included nutritional status, growth and development, health assessment, dental health, injury prevention, behavioral development, infection control, healthy environments, health counselling for parents, and health manpower development. After implementing the health promotion program. Children developed better growth, development, nutritional status, and dental health Parents had more satisfaction on the services. Personnel had more knowledge on child health promotion and were highly satisfied with services provided in this health promotion program. This study indicated that all child care centers should establish health promotion services. In addition, health promotion for children should be consistently provided by families and child day care centers.
