รายละเอียด / Details:

Delayed speech or language development was the most common development disorder of children, occurring in 2-15 percent of preschool children. The male to female sex ratios varied from 1.5 to 3:1. Possible etiologies were hearing loss, mental retardation, developmental language disorder, autistic disorder, cerebral palsy, craniofacial disorder, genetic disorder, constitutional expressive language delay, and inappropriate child rearing. Bilingual rearing, birth order, uncomplicated twinning, laziness, and tongue-tie did not cause language delay. Child evaluation composed of medical history, physical and developmental assement, and audiologic testing. The goal of early diagnosis and intervention was to maximize the rate of language larning and use at the optimal language-learning period of childhood and to minimize secondary behavioral consequence of inadequate communication.
