The objectives of this explanatory research were to determine the levels of motivation of health personnel in developing health centers into primary care units in the Hat Yai Hospital Network and to investigate the relation ships between personal factors and working environmental factors and the motivation of personnel in developing health centers into primary care units in the Hat Yai Hospital Network The target population consisted of 132 staff members of health centers and Hat Yai Hospital Data were collected in an interview using a questionnaire validated by seven experts for its content validity by seven experts and the content validity Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was found to be 0.95 Descriptive statistical analyses and chi-square were employed Most of the health personnel (46.5%) working in the health centers in the Hat Yai Hospital Network were 36.5 years old on the aversge and holding bachelor degree (76.5%) About one-third were nurese (36.4%) most of whom (54.5%) were at 5-6 position classification level with the average income of 16,805.23 baht (37.1%) and 13.71 years of working experience units The health centers (69.7%) had 3.8 staff members and were responsible for a population of 10,865.65 people on the average Most of the support (99.2%) from the network were medicine and medical supplies The staffs were satisfied with their earnings (62.9%) working The staffs were satisfied with their earnings (62.9%) working enviroment (80.3%) and medical equipment and supplies (66.6%) Regarding the levels of motivation it was found that most health personnel (65.9%) were moderately motivated while 20.5 percent were well motivated socialy particularly by social acceptance and success Respect for network administrators was found to be at modeerate level (61.45%) The personal factors that had a statistically significant relationship with the overall motivation (p‹0.05) were position degree holders working experience and respect for network adminstrators The working environmental factors that had a statistically significant relationship with the overall motivation (p<0.05) were the sizo of the health center the suitability of the rewards which were monthly salary and overtime rates and the working environment The results of the study supportes some of the hypotheses
