In Singapore, there have been marked developments in community mental health sercvices in recent years. This paper aims to give an update on these services, placing them in the context of the overall health delivery system in the country, and outlines the increasing contributions from social walfare organizations. Although the range of service components have grown considerably, much can still be done to improve on the provision of cost-effective and accessible psychiatric care to the community. Possible areas of collaboration between different service providers are discussed as means to improve service delivery and to address the existing service gaps.
