Oral health status and behavior in dental ezamination were studied in 124 autistic children aged between 3 to 5 years who attended early stimulation unit at Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health. The results showed that there were no statistically difference at .05 significant level in caries and behavior in dental examination by gender. The autistic children had experienced with dental caries 53.23 percent, mean dmft 3.41 tooth percent, mean dmfs 6.67 surface per person and they had the highest prevalence severity and distribution caries pattern of pit fissure caries pattern. When considering the individual teeth the most cariois teeth was right mandibular second primary molars. As for oral hygiene of this group plaque index score was 0.25. According to rating of acceptance of dental examination, 37.10 percent reacted definitely negative, 26.61 percent negative, 20.97 percent positive and 15.32 percent definitely positive. Besides, the results from the interviews showed that at .05 significant level income family, drinking water after feeding milk, sweet food and tooth cleaning at one year old were correlated with caries status. The research finding will be useful for planning a preventive program and dental treatment for autistic children.
