Objective: To study the parents' of the first signs of autism in the autistic child before taking thierchildren to meet child psychiatrist at Srinagarind Hospital. Method: Parents of autistic childs were interviewed by Thai versions of semi structure interview and check list for autistic sign questionnaire during their visits at Srinagarind Hospital, the study was conducted during between December 2004 to April 2005. The data was analyzed by percent and ranking from the most frequent perceptions of the parents and grouping within the core autism symptoms following the DSM-IV-TR criteria. Results: There were 42 participants. (23 were mothers, 5 fathers, and 14 grandmothers). The top of 4 common signs were 1) delayed or lack of spoken language (95.26%), 2) no eye contact (90.45%), 3) attention to object but no attention to people (83.33%) and 4) no finger pointing (73.81). Conclusion: Parents' perception of first signs of autistic children with 2-3 years of age were delayed or lack of spoken language, no eye contact, attention to object but no attention to people and mo finger pointing.
