Objectives: To compare psychiatric services of primary care practitioners graduated from different medical schools in Thailand. Material and method: Questionnaires enquired about psychiatric practice and service problems were sent to doctors in primary care settings. Thailand Data form respondents who graduated equal or less to than 4 years were recruited in this study. Results: Two hundred and seventy eight primary care practitioners graduated equal or less than 4 years had participated. They were 138 men (49.6%) and 140 women (50.4%) had average 2.6 years (SD.=0.86) working experience and graduated from all various medical schools in Thailand. There were no differences between psychiatric services of primary care physicians graduated from different medical schools in the area of psychiatric prevalence estimation confidence in diagnosis and using psychiatric drugs. There were only a few differences in recognizing psychiatric problems in physically ill patients having problems or obstacles in diagnosis knowing new psychiatric drugs among primary care physicians from different medical schools. Conclusion: Primary care physicians from different schools could provide the same quality of psychiatric services. Confidence problems or obstacles in diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric patients were similarly found among them It would be very beneficial for each medical school to use information from this study to improve the medical curriculum especially in psychiatry.
