The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between personal factors, self-esteem, social support, and exemplary leadership of head nurses in regional hospital and medical centers. The sample 242 was swlected using stratified sampling technique. There self-report questionnaires Self-Esteem, Social, and Exemplary Leadership Questionnaires were utilized for data collection. Point-biserial correlation coefficient, Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient, and multiple regression were applied for data analyses. Major findings were: The mean score of the exemplary leadership of head nurses was high. Social support, self-esteem, and education level were positively related to exemplary leaderships pf head nurses ‹.05. Experience level and administrative training were not significantly correlated with exeplary leadership of head nurses p>.05. The stepwise regression analysis showed that social support and self-esteem explained 47.20% of the variance in exemplary leadership of head nurses p<.001.
