The diagnosis of panic disorder in children has been controversial, less so in adolescents. The author reviews the literature supporting the occurrence of panic attacks in children and adolescents and reports 2 cases of such condition. This report also highlights the importance of early identification and intervention in patients with panic and raises the possibility of reducing long-term morbidity in patients with childhood onset panic.
