Four hundred newly-treated schizophrenic patients were studied at Khon Kaen Neuropsychiatric Hospital in the 1995 fiscal year. Based on the obtained results, demographic data were similar to those of other studies, Three hundred and thirty cases (82.50 %) had been previously treated by superstitious healing. Other factors discussed were the delay prior to medical treatment, the outcome of healings and other costs.
