Six hundred and nineteen schizophrenic patients who attended at psychiatric unit of Chiangrai Regional Hospital during October 1996-January 1997 were treated following the “Caremap for Management of F20 Schizophrenia in Chiangrai Regional Hospital” for 2 years. Two hundred and eighty four patients were succeeded the treatment regimen and there were 41 patients remained markedly impaired social and occupational function. The authors had described in detail the objective, the characteristics, and the result of this caremap as a part of the hospital accreditation programme. The treatment policy for schizophrenic patients in mental hospitals in Thailand had also been discussed.
