รายละเอียด / Details:

The main purposes of this research were to study the attitude toward psychiatric nursing and barriers in psychiatric nursing practice of registered nurses of the community hospitals in Northeastern Thailand. The samples were 413 registered nurses from 19 provinces in Northeastern area. The results revealed that the mean score of the attitude toward psychiatric nursing of registered nurses was at a high level. Sixty-seven per cent of registered nurses had difficulty in caring for violent and aggressive patients. The majority of problems in practice were inadequate health personnel and lack of self-confidence. The authors suggested that health administrators and related organizations should pay attention to the attitude of mental health staffs by providing support and promoting work readiness in the aspects of thinking, feeling and knowledge in order to maintain and develop their positive attitude.
