Objective : This study is primarily reflect the prevalence of behavioral problems in preschool children. Methods : Preschool children aged 1-5 years attending well baby clinics at Health Center in the northern part of Bangkok were studied during October, 1995 to Febru ary, 1996. Six hundred children (286 boys and 314 girls) were included. Parents or the caretakers were interviewed by well baby clinic nurses who were trained for using behavioral questionnaires by the researcher. Results : The result showed that the common behavioral problems were eating problems (35.3%), emotional problems (27.7%), temper tantrums (25.8%), hyperactivity (24.7%), and aggressive behavior (21.7%). Of all parents and caretakers, the percentage of their concerns about behavioral problems of preschool children was 80.3%. Conclusions : It would be beneficial for guideline to offer proper management and prevention for child mental problems and promote mental health in Thailand.
