To identify the factors related to self-esteem, the factors related to hopelessness, and the relationship between self-esteem and hopelessness among juvenile delinquents. Three-hundred and forty juvenile delinquents who were referred to the central juvenile and Family counseling center for psychological assessment or therapy were studied. Data was collected using : 1) A general interview questionnaire 2) Rosenberg. Self-Esteem Inventory 3) Beck hopelessness scale, and 4) The standard progressive matrices. The results revealed that factors related to self-esteem were family relationships rearing suicidal ideation, and suicidal ideation after arrest. Factors related to hopelessness were educational level, intelligence quotient, suicidal ideation, and suicidal ideation in the future. There was a reverse relationship between self-esteem and hopelessness. This means that juvenile delinquents who had high self-esteem had low feelings of hopelessness. But juvenile delinquents who had low self-esteem had high feelings of hopelessness.
