developing the problem oriented screening instrument for teenagers (POSIT) which was created by the national institute of drug abuse (NIDA), the USA, to measure the ten domains of potential problems in substance abuser. The objective was to develop the Thai version POSIT questionnaire, to examine the internal consistency reliability of the domains and the questionnaire, and to examine characteristics of domains among juvenile delinquents. 270 juvenile delinquents being trained in Baan Karuna and Baan Ubekkha Annex and Training Centers, the central observation and protection center. The data collection was done as a group by self-report and researcher read questions of the POSIT questionnaire. Research instruments were 1) the questionnaire of general backgrounds 2) the Thai POSIT questionnaire. Were concluded as follows : 1. Five domains having acceptable values of the internal consistency rehability were substance use, aggressive behavior, family relationships vocational status and peer relationships. The substance use domain possessed the highest reliability. 2. The substance Use domain manifested the capability of measuring and predicting risks among juvenile delinquents. 3. The Mental Health status domain correlated most highly with Educational status domain. 4. The personal backgrounds of juvenile delinquents relating to POSIT scores were educational level, number of offenses, and type of offense.
