แหล่งที่มา/Source: Journal of The Psychiatric Association of Thailand, Vol. 44 No.4 October-December 1999; P 320-328.

รายละเอียด / Details:

Objective To examine family function in Thai married-couple in 7 areas : problem solving, communication, roles, affective responsiveness, affective involement, behavior control and total general function. Methods Each couple who attended parent education program were asked to complete the Chulalongkorn Family Inventory (CFI). Results There were 198 male (35.6 %) and 358 female (64.4%) in the study. Mean age was 41.9 years (SD=10.3). They were married for 14.8 years (SD=9.6). Sixty-seven per cent of the families were nuclear family and 26 per cent were extended family (26.4%). The correlation between each item of the CFI was 0.88. The behavior control was the area that had lowest score. The structure of the family affected the total score (p=0.034), affective involvement (p=0.014) and communication (p=0.028). Years of marriage were not correlated with family function in extended family but correlated with nuclear family in problem solving (p=0.032) and behavior control (p=0.045). High educated families had better family function than low educated families in communication (p=0.018) and total score (p=0.008). Conclusions The family function was correlated to family structure, years of marriage, and educational level.
