This descriptive research aimed to study nurse' ethical dilemmas and ethical decision making in telling the truth about illness to HIV/AIDS patients. One hundred and ten registered nurses who worked in hospitals, Songkla, Thailand were recruited by simple random sampling. Instruments consisted of (1) the Demographic data from and (2) a vignette : How to tell the truth to HIV/AIDS patient followed but close-ended and open-ended questions about frequency, feelings ethical dilemmas and ethical decision making when encountering the ethical dilemmas from the vignette, Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics using SPSS/FW and content analysis. The findings revealed that most subjects 55.45% rarely encountered dilemmas from the vignette. Mean score of negative feelings was 6.99 0-10 numeric scale. Three ethical dilemmas were identified including: (1) Telling the truth or telling nothing 42.73%, (2) Willing to tell the truth but beyond the duty 29.09%, and (3) physician-centered 27.27% The findings from this study can be used as base line date in developing nurses' ethical decision making skills when encountering ethical dilemmas related to truth telling to HIV/AIDS patients.
