In Western movies a psychiatrist is created to play an important role in the movies. His role is to justify and explain the unrational behaviors of the leading characters to make it more sensible for audiences. “Good Will Hunting” is one of good examples of this. It tells the story in the popular theme (of western psychiatry) about how our personalities may be affected by child abuse in early period. It also shows how the psychiatrist treats his patient in the therapy session, the interaction, and how the patient works through his conflict. This film is recommended to psychiatric residents and those who are interested in psychiatry and psychotherapy.
