Objective To develop and validate Thai version of Delirium Rating Scale for nonpsychiatric physicians Method Delirium Rating Scale was translated and developed. The scale was applied to 80 patients who had been consulted to psychiatric department. Of these, 20 patients were diagnosed as having delirium. Two nonpsychiatric physicians took part in the study. Reliability was then assessed using intraclass correlation and internal consistency. Validity of the scale was tested against DSM-IV criteria as a gold standard and ROC curve analysis was also performed and calculated. Results Intraclass correlation and internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha coefficient) of the scale were 0.92 and 0.83, respectively. ROC curve analysis using a cut-off of 12/13 would yield 94.4% sensitivity and 95.2% specificity. Conclusions Thai version of Delirium Rating Scale appeared to be useful for detecting delirium by trained physicians with good levels of validity and reliability.
