The purpose of this quasi experimental study was to determine the effectiveness of case management on drug adherence and re-admission of schizophrenic patients at Suanprung Hospital. Sample consisted of 70 schizophrenic patients who met inclusion criteria, and split into experimental group and control group by simple sampling, 35 persons in each group. Research instrument used in intervention program was a care map for schizophrenic patients and research instrument used for obtaining data consisted 1) general information, 2) drug adherence questionnaire 3) monthly information record and 4) satisfaction questionnaire on case management. General information record, re-admission and satisfaction were analyzed by using frequency, mean, and percent. Drug adherence within group between prior and after the experiment was compared by using Willcoxon Signed Ranks Test and between experimental group and control group were compared prior and after intervention by using Mann-Whitney U test. Result : The results revealed that drug adherence of control group have improved and re-admission has reduced while drug adherence and readmission in control have not changed. The satisfaction on case management in control group was at high level. The results of this study indicated that case management program is a promising intervention for schizophrenic patients who have adherence and re-admission problems.
