This research was to study situation of alcoholic beverage importation and impact of free trade agreement during 1998-2006. The method used by analysis and comparing the rate, value, proportion and expansion of imported alcohol statistic which came from customs department of the Ministry of Finance, Thailand and marketing strategy information from alcohol companies. The result found that the imported alcohol from the United Kingdom. Philippine. France, Australia, China Japan. During 1998-2006 the value of imported alcohol increased. After establishing free trade agreement (FTA) in 2003, the rate increased enormously increased in Philippines, China, Australia and Singapore. The proportion of imported alcohol from abroad to total imported alcohol value in free trade agreement area, especially Philippines is the highest. Elimination of tariff was being taken as advantage. After AFTA cooperation, imported alcohol effecting the domestic alcohol resulting from custom and tariff procedure. The revenue from the custom duty returned sharply. The alcohol is not an ordinary good but very harmful product. In 2006, the imported alcohol rate from FTA region was 21.78% in 8 countries. Result of the imported alcohol made the domestic alcohol price drop. The imported has a cheaper price by AFTA right and good brand image increase the consumption. In conclusion, Free trade agreement on alcoholic beverage has negative impact on the country of Thailand.
