Introduction: Alcohol is not common goods. Many studies have considerable impacts of alcohol on social problems and national expenditures. As the results, several countries including Thailand have implemented the policies aim to reducing accessibility of alcohol. In Thailand, selling alcohol in school, temple, and gas station is prohibited. In addition, welling alcohol to people aged below 18 years old is not allowed. Selling alcohol outside 11.00-14.00 and 17.00-24.00 is also prohibited. Up to present; no study has ever conducted to evaluate how these policies have been implemented. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the enforcement of policy on reducing accessibility of alcohol in Thailand. This study was an action research and aimed to provide alcohol treatment program and networking in the community. It was studied during March-October 2007 in 2 areas of primary care unit (PCU) of Tambon Banwa, Muang District, Khon Kaen Province and Srimongkol Community, Chumpae District, Konkaen Province. There have 3 phases of implementation which were 1) Preparation by training health staffs and community leaders with Khon Kaen Drug Dependence Treatment Center Model, studying community situation and problems, and meeting with the communities for surveillance and finding the drug abused, 2) Intervention by using the Audit Screening Test for the drug abused, motivating and counseling the alcohol dependents and providing physical check up eighth home visit and family health education, and 30 Following- up by using home visit after treatment, Setting up self-help groups, and Giving psychological care by the health volunteers, the community key informants, and the relatives.
