Anti-alcohol and saving is an innovative idea for solving alcohol consumption at village and community level. It is comprehensive health campaign relevant to the village way of life which most people like to drink alcohol. Alcohol consumption may affect to family. It may relate to value of drinking alcohol of the community particularly low-income labors who drink a lot which cause debts, physical health problems, and poverty. If the community stops drinking by launching anti-alcohol campaign with saving promotion instead, it is the sustainable solution such as the qualitative case study of Lerng Peuay Village where local health officer network launched the participation program of anti-drinking with community leaders, village health volunteers and monks continually. The program's impact is that 114 drinkers signed and promised themselves to monks not to drink during Buddhist Lent in 2003. Later, there was a community forum in order to exchange their campaign experiences. Finally, it came as the community agenda to help drinkers absolutely stop drinking. With the collaboration of public sector, monks who are spiritual leaders, and community leaders; they organized activities to enhance anti-drinking, for example, anti-drinking family camp, walking campaign in the village, giving reward to people who could stop drinking for 3 months, visiting and moral supporting people who could stop drinking at home monthly. These influenced 23 people (20.2%) stop drinking 3 months. Later, these people became the leaders of village anti-drinking, especially Mr. Hia Thongkum who was drinking-lover until losing house, family broken, even having no identification card ; Mr. Pon Boonsarn, after stopping drinking he played the role as "Phaya Yom Toot" or "Massager of the Good" to remind drinkers in village; and Mr. Boon-Naa Kao-Noo who to abuse his wife when he got drunk became to be key person organizing no alcohol club of Wat Pha Sang Arong and anti-alcohol, anti-poor of Thai drum musical band. The community helped Mr. Hia to get his identification care. The anti-drinking campaign penetrated into community life via many festivals, such as Wat without alcohol, Song Kran festival without alcohol, etc. Due to intensive campaign mentioned, many drinkers participated to anti-alcohol activities and many problems decreased, for example accident and quarrel. In 2006, the community forum focused on anti-alcohol and anti-poor by studying alcohol drinking pattern. It found that heavy drinkers may drink everyday in morning ad evening as a "Kong" or 1/8 cup which costs five baht each. If they could stop drinking, they may save alcohol drinking expense. This will be the poverty deduction according to sufficiency economy. Therefore, they built a huge liquor bottle and bamboo saving box at the village entrance to motivate "Save 3 Baht daily will stop poverty" campaign that promoted villagers to change their 5 Baht liquor expense by 3 Baht for saving and 2 Baht for family expense. The campaign strategy was to walk door to door to the drinkers to participate as the member of the program. As the result, there were 999 members and they could save 200,000 Baht during three months. Later on the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Co-operative was asked to collect villagers' saving quarterly. At present, the total deposits of villagers who quit drinking is over 420,000 Baht. The neighboring villages adopted this concept. Then, they formed market place called "Happy Marker, Sufficiency Economy" where anti-drinking members can trade their products and save their earning every three month. It is considered as the success of comprehensive health campaign of Lerng Peuay Village as the model village for anti-alcohol and saving. It also could develop as concrete concept to stop alcohol drinking.
