Objective: This research aimed to develop the prototype of Satir model in parents group of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders (ADHD) children. Materials and methods This research and development comprised the prototype which were developed following to the innovative knowledge and technology research and development standard. This innovation was experimented on 14 parents of ADHD children from Child and Adolescence Mental Health Rajanagarindra Institute. The sample was composed of 7 parents in the experimental group, and 7 parents in the control group. The experimental group based on Satir model was organized into 3 months, one time per month, 6 hours each. The control group was organized by the other activity in the same time. The effects were studied by using the self-esteem inventory, family inventory and children’s symptom questionnaire. Then the comparison between pretest and posttest scores was proceeded, as well as the comparison between the two groups by Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The prototype of Satir group model comprised of drawing iceberg, role play, group discussion. The control group was satisfied at a high level of the innovative prototype. After the program, the parents’ self-esteem and family functions in the experimental group were scored statistically significantly higher than the control group. Moreover, there were statistically significantly positive change of children’s symptom questionnaire scored in conduct, learning problems, anxiety and global function scores higher than the control group. Conclusion Prototype of group Satir model in parents of ADHD children improved the parents’ self-esteem, their family functions and positive change of scored on children’s symptom.
