The overall objective of this study was to examine the relationships between human resource management of nursing departments and total quality managerial competencies of head nurses with nursing team effectiveness of staff nurses. A descriptive co relational design and multiple regressions were used to examine responses of 266 staff nurses of mental health departments to three instruments: Human resource management of nursing departments’ questionnaire, total quality managerial competencies of head nurses questionnaire, and nursing team effectiveness questionnaire. These questionnaires were .94, .93 and .96 respectively. Data were analyzed by using percent, the mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were as fallow: 1. The level of human resource management of nursing departments was at a moderate level (X=3.44). The level of total quality managerial competencies of head nurses and nursing team effectiveness of staff nurses were at a high level (X=3.98 and X= 3.96 respectively). 2. There were the positive relationships between human resource management of nursing departments and total quality managerial competencies of head nurses with nursing team effectiveness of staff nurses. 3. Variables which significantly predicted nursing team effectiveness were total quality managerial competencies of head nurses and human resource management of nursing departments (P‹.05).
