Psychosocial rehabilitation model in Hong Kong has been developed for more than for decades. It has been evolved from merely providing direct services to a diversified community-based rehabilitation services. A more significant achievement is the establishment of social enterprises for training & employment for people with psychiatric disability. The innovative and community-based modes of services have created an impact upon its neighboring countries whose cultures are very similar. New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association initiated to work closely with neighboring countries so study visits, exchange programs and consultations have been conducted with Mainland China, Thailand, Taiwan etc. ever since mid-90’s. After a decade of exchanged of experiences, fruitful results have been seen with the adoption of an open instead of closed door policy, the changing attitude of the professionals and family members/careers, the demonstration of the abilities of people with psychiatric disability and their integration into the community.
