Original Taiwan Mental Health Act had passed on December 7,1990,also small changed on 2000 and 2002 respsctively, but newly revised on july 4,2007 becoming totally unbelievable and it will get truth after july 4,2008. Major revise in this new act include: 1) totally community based program as well as setting up community Mental Health Center, 2) protecting human right especially during compulsive hospitalizations & creating a new compulsive community treatment program, 3) mental health promotion using a preventive program including suicide prevention model, methadone maintenance therapy for heroin dependence in combinations with decreacing Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection rates, domestic violence prevention as well as increasing quality of lives. Caring systems for mojor Mental Health include 6,350 acute psychaitric beds, 13,230 chronic psychaitric beds,2,987 beds, for community rehabilitation centre, 6,329 beds for day care centre, 3,448 beds for half way house and 1,463 beds for terminal psychaitric nursinghome. The enough manpower of psychaitric disciplinse include psychaitrists, psychaitric social workers, occupational therapists and psychaitric nurses are all in different subspecialties of psychaitry which developed for modern mental health care systems inculde: psychosomotic medicine, forensic psychaitry, biological and psychopharmacology, psychoanalysis, domestic violence and sexual harasment, psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychaitry, group therapy, and substance abuse prevention During the last disaster the Taiwanese Society of Psychaitry (TSOP) also well trained for emergent psychaitry. The mental health care systems and adheres with patients & families will work to promote lift qualities as well as caring the minorities to gether.
