รายละเอียด / Details:

Presentations in academic meetings and writing papers in academic journals are important activity as routine clinical works for medical doctors, including psychiatrists. Preparation of presentations and scientific helps us not only to deepen the rational thinking derived from personal experience and clinical findings but also to make our experience transformed into the common information among the professional community. How ever it is also true that not many psychiatrists, especially young ones with less professional experience, are well motivated to write papers because they do not regard writing papers as one of their responsibilities due to insufficient experience and training for it. Logical thought is most important in writing scientific papers, by which the proper topics is selected, the most adequate method should be employed, the accurate fact should be stated and the deep discussions should be developed. Efficient skill of presentation is required, in which the most efficient methods of data collection, data arrangement, and effective presentation should be employed. Manuscript should be submitted to the most appropriate journals. In the ISI database, 94 journals are listed under the category of psychiatry, such as Arch Gen Psychiatry (13.9), Mol Psychiatry (11.8), Am J Psychiatry (8.3), Bio Psychiatry (7.2), Neuro psychopharmacol (5.9). (Impact factors in parentheses). Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences (PCN; 1.13), the official journal of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology (JSPN) was remolded significantly this year as the open platform for psychiatric academia especially for Asian colleagues. It is bi-monthly, each issue containing about 15 regular articles, 1-5 short communications, and 5-10 letters to the editor. We are accepting more and more submissions from non-Japanese authors. As the Editor-in-Chief of PCN, I will convey the present situation of this journal, the process of reviewing, and some tips for smooth acceptance to PCN.
