The objectives of this study were as follows: to study stress levels and coping behavior of patients' assistants at Srithanya Hospital, to compare the stress among patients' assistants whose personal factors and job factors are different, and to compare coping behavior of Srithanya Hospital patients' assistants whose level of stress are different. Sample groups were 176 patients assistants who worked in acute ward, subacute ward, special ward and pre-discharge ward at Srithanya Hospital. Data were collected by questiooaire. The statistical methods applied were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, LSD multiple comparisons and correlation analysis. The study showed that patients' assistants at Srithanya Hospital had a moderate level of stress. The patients' assistants at Srithanya Hospital with different age, working position, tenure of work, income and night shift work were significantly different in their stress. The patients' assistants at Srithanya Hospital with different sex, marital status, education, family obligation and department were not significantly different in their stress. The patients' assistants at Srithanya Hospital applied problem-focused coping behavior. The patients' assistants with different stress scores were not significantly different in their coping behavior.
