Proble/Background: Behavioral, emotional and learning problems resulted from many diseases and frequently occurred from many diseases in one case. Studying in prevalence of diseases will help planning service appropriately and to prevent the diseases. Objective : To study prevalence of diagnosis of patients whom were consulted about behavioral, emotional and learning problems and also the treatments of these patients. Research Design : Retrospective descriptive study Setting : Child Psychiatry and Developmental Clinic, Department of Pediatrics, Buddhachinaraj Phitsanulok Hospital Materials and Method : All data gathered from medical records from June 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008 were reviewed. The data was analyzed and presented in frequency and percentage. Results : There were 106 new consulted cases, 71 boys and 35 girls (boy: girl was 2:1), aged 9 mo-14 yr (mostly 7-12 yr). There were 58.5% behavioral problem, 36.8% learning problem and 4.7% emotional problem. Major behavioral problems were aggressive behavior, hyperactivity and attention deficit, autistic disorder and school refusal. Common diseases in learning problem were attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, learning disorder, intellectual deficit. Several cases had many diseases together. Emotional problem were few, majority were depressive disorder. Major diseases of behavioral and learning problems were attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (36.8%), learning disorder (21.7%), intellectual deficit (13.2%) respectively. Major cases (55.7%) were treated without medications. In medication-used group used 1 drug mostly (66%). Conclusion : Major cases of behavioral, emotional and learning problems were treatable and helpable diseases with or without medications and need multidisciplinary team include family and school too.
