The objective of this study was to study of illness of inpatients with Alcohal-Related Disoraer at Suan Prung Psychiatric Hospital. This paper was aretrospective study which collected data from records of severity of illness of inpatients in 2005. From the study, Alclhol-records or 27% of totalinpatients (92.5% are male average age of 42.8 years and length of stay of 21.4days). Additionall, it found that inpatients with dementia and other chronic disturbances of cerebral function had highest scores of the severity of illness assessed by ThaiHoNOS of 31 from a total of 50 scores, follwed by Delirium (29.8 scores), Alcohal intoxication and withdrawal (28.2), and Alcohol/Drug use and Alcohol/Durg inducedorganic mental disorders (27.0), respectively. Furthermore, these groups of inpatients were also found higher scores together in drinking problems (item 3), physical illness (item 3), and overall incapability (item 10) than any other group. This study identified that this group of inpatients should be separately managed e.g. support of tools,equipments, and staff forces by concentrating on physical service and physical rehabilitation.
