Objective : To describe psychiatric disorders in children due to disasters: study in landslide and flood at Uttaradit province 2006 Method : This descriptive study was performed at 3rd – 4th month after disasters. 341 children, who had The Childhood Depression Inventory score (CDI) _> 15, were selected and sent from their teachers. The children were interviewed and assessed by 4 psychiatrists using DSM IV criteria diagnosis for psychiatric disorders. Result : The study population was male 50.4% female 49.6%, the majority of educational level is Pratomsuksa 4th-6th , aged between 9-12 years and the most problem that they required was the learning problem. The psychiatric disorders in children had 4 categories: 1) Adjustment Disorders 29.6%, 2) Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) 7.9%, 3) Depressive Disorders 6.0%, and 4) Anxiety disorders 3.8%. Conclusion : The prevalence of PTSD in this study was relatively low. This was possibly due to the way in which the cases had been referred to the psychiatrist.
