The purpose of this study is to learn about the level of stress, factors that caused the stress and the way to encounter it duaring the practice in lanour romm of the Nursing program students int he year 2000 at the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University. the population were 340 fourth year nursing student in the labour room. Three questionnaires concerning personal data, factors causing the stress and the way to encounter it were used for data collection. Data were analyzed by using percentage, mean and standard deviation. The reault of the research revealed that the level of stress for practicing in the labour room. In overall and focusing on each aspect of teaching management, the facility layout and the environment and teacher performance have the same result. They were the mild stress. (X= 2.27, SD.=0.79; X=2.43, SD.=1.15; X=2.45,SD.=0.60 and X=1.95, SD.=1.06 respectivel). In encountering the stress, the students implied the problem-focused forms of coping and emotional-focused forms of coping were to read supplementary books and to use self-evaluation to avoid mistakes, which were 96.8% and 83.2% respectively. The emotional-focused forms of coping were to consult their friends and to gain relaxation by watching movie (93.2%) and to find something to eat (60.3%).
