Four common problems were psychological problems in medically ill, anxiety disorders, suggested psychological problems but cannot identify the disorder exactly and somatoform disorders respectively. Most of general practitioners had moderate confidence in psychiatric diagnosis. The most common drug prescription was anxiolytics. About psychological treatment, 90.4% of general practitioners understood that it was important, 76.8% could do real practice but only 18.7% had great confidence in practice. Conclusions Psychological problems are important ones in primary care settings. General practitioners still have troubles in diagnosis and services. Medical schools can use these database to develop better psychiatric program. J Psychiatr Assoc Thailand 1998; 43(4): 303-15.
