This descriptive study aimed to examine the relationship between the family health promotion behaviors and the adolescents health status. The sample was 202 parents and school children grade 7-9 at one public in Bangkok Metropolitan area. The instruments were 1) Demographic data questionnaire, 2) The Family Health Promotion Behavior (FHPB) Questionnaire, 3) Illness history of adolescent with in 6Ramathibodi Nursing Journal Vol. 8, No. 3 September-December 2002 p. 223 month questionnaires and risk behaviors developed by the researchers, 4) Health examination record form, and 5) The Thai Mental Health Questionnaires (TMHQ) The results from Pearson's Product correlation and ANOVA revealed that there was no significant relationship between FHPB and the incident of illness, malnutrition, and blood presure of the samples (p‹.05) However FHPB was significantly related to mental health problem (r=-.209, p (.01) Thus, evidently the family health promotion behavior did not show its significant relationship with the adolescents physical health but it showed a sighificant relationship with the mental health status of the adolescents.
